Christine’s shortlisted design
Here is the clay maquette just before she went to the foundry. She holds much behind her back, waiting for people to explore the statue from all angles. A book in hand and a quill and ink pot from her waist, this is a young Behn, waiting to leave Canterbury and find different worlds in London, Surinam, Holland and most of all…on the stage.
